Give To The Opening Doors Capital Campaign
Fifty years ago, parents founded The Arc of
Livingston-Wyoming to provide services for our
community’s most at-risk children. Today, The
Arc is in the midst of a $4.25 million project
to continue our pledge to aid and support area
children and their families.
The project relocates KidStart, our children’s
services program, from a building on the SUNY
Geneseo campus that is no longer available into
a new home built specifically for services to
young children, with an emphasis on individual
needs. The goal of "Opening Doors," our
first-ever capital campaign, is to raise
$800,000 that will help to finance the new
KidStart school, and effectively open doors to
bright futures for children throughout our
community.
KidStart’s new 33,000 square-foot school at 5871
Groveland Station Road in Groveland, NY is built by local
contractors, and is financed locally. It is
designed specifically for services to children
from birth to 5 years, and to accommodate
individual needs.
Located on 7.8 acres of land, the new school includes 12
classrooms, each with 900 square feet of
learning and play space, a 1,960 square foot
evaluation center, a multipurpose room for
training and large motor activities, and a
spacious playground. Sixteen therapy offices
allow for individual treatment of physical and
social concerns, while the 1,595 square foot
occupational- and physical-therapy room encourages children to participate in
one-on-one and small group therapeutic
activities. Ninety percent of the building is
dedicated to serving children, while only 10
percent is used for administration.
The need for KidStart is evident in the
enrollment numbers: 347 children from 17 school
districts and 6 counties. KidStart offers
solutions for families challenged with finding
quality child care. Children who participate in
KidStart are better prepared for entering
kindergarten or their next school placement.
They have a strong emotional base and skill set
that leads to continued success.
A commitment to special needs children is the
very foundation of The Arc of
Livingston-Wyoming. With your support, we'll open
critical doors of learning and growth to KidStart children
for generations to come.
Gifts at all
levels are graciously accepted. Your donation is
tax-deductible. Room naming and other
memorial/recognition opportunities are available
for our most generous donors; to discuss
options, contact Public Relations Director Jeff
