Preschool
Program (Ages 3 to 5 years)
|
|
|
"I
can't believe the AWESOME attitude!
What great teachers!"
|
| |
| Some
children need more one-to-one
assistance and guidance to help
them learn. Our goal is to help
all children acquire new knowledge
and skills that will increase
their self-sufficiency and academic
success by enhancing their growth
and development. |
|
| |
| Our
preschool staff includes certified
special education teachers, teacher
assistants/aides, speech/language
therapists and physical and occupational
therapists who work closely with
parents and local schools to determine
the most appropriate program for
each individual child. Our school
psychologist works with children
and is a resource for staff and
parents. Preschool services are
offered at our centers, within
your home or in the community.

Physical
Therapy
|
|
| Physical
therapy focuses on movement skills,
balance and coordination. Therapists
work with children at home, in
the classroom or in the large
therapy room. A variety of equipment
such as therapy balls, wedges,
tricycles and balance beams are
used along with games to improve
large motor skills.
|
|
|
|
|
Occupational
Therapy
|
|
| Occupational
therapy addresses development
in the areas of self-help, sensory-motor
and fine motor abilities. Using
play and a wide variety of activities,
therapists work with children
at home, in the classroom or in
the large therapy room. Through
play with swings, scooters, puzzles,
pegboards and many other materials,
therapists facilitate development
of early childhood skills. |
|
|
|
|
|
Speech
Therapy
|
|
|
| Speech
therapy activities are often play-oriented since young children
learn primarily through their
play and play activities are motivating
and fun for them. Therapy materials
may include toys, books, musical
tapes, pictures, art materials
and objects commonly found in
the child's home or school environment. |
|
Assistive and augmentative communication
devices such as sign language,
language boards or synthesized
computer devices may also be
used.
|
| |
|
"My
son's speech has improved 1000%
since he started attending!"
|
|
| Activities
are designed to help the child
achieve small steps in development
so that he or she receives as
much success and reward as possible.
Parents play a critical role in
their child's development and
are encouraged to take an active
part. Speech therapy nurtures
the speech and language development
of the child and helps to make
daily communication easier. |

Special
Education
|
|
|
| Special
Education, like all education,
is about teaching and learning.
Some children need more one-to-one
assistance and specific guidelines
to help them learn. Special Education
teachers are trained in teaching
methods to accommodate individual
learning styles and to modify
the learning environment so children
have optimal opportunities to
succeed in their learning. |
|
Professionals involved in special
education teams vary depending
on children's needs. Professionals
working with certified special
education teachers might include
regular classroom teachers,
school psychologists, health
professionals, counselors, speech
therapists, occupational therapists
and physical therapists. Additionally,
parent input is an essential
part of individualized education
programs for young children.
The
goal for all is to help children
acquire new knowledge and skills
that will increase their self-sufficiency,
academic success and will enhance
their growth and development.
